Everyone loves a 75 minute savasana

I’ve been on hiatus. I’m super busy between work and yoga responsibilities. But I’m back. I’ve only taught Vinyasa so far in my short career as a yoga teacher. However, this afternoon I’m teaching an all level Hatha class. This class is especially nerve wracking because general Hatha teaching is a foreign concept to me. My teacher will be watching in the back since it’s a requirement for the 500 hour certification and I’ve been instructed: no sun salutations, slow pace, and introduce modifications first and then offer the option for the full expression of the pose. I’m like a calm, caring bootcamp instructor when I teach. Going slow is hard. That’s what she said.
It’s a 75 minute class and when I practiced this morning it was only 50 minutes. Can I do a 25 minute savasana? We also had to choose a chakra from a hat to base the class on. I got the 4th chakra. Coincidentally, my last class was a 4th chakra class. If any people from the last one participate in this one, they’ll think I’m on ecstasy with my heart center obsession. Here is my sequence thus far:

I’m going to have to prepare some back up poses to throw in. The part I really hate is the bridge to kneeling transition. My teacher told me to throw bridge in there as a precursor to camel. It’s awkward though. On a positive note, she offered me a regular class starting in May and guess what? It’s all level Hatha yoga. I’m super excited for the opportunity. But I’m thinking this class is kind of an audition. I gotta get it right, get it tight in the Hatha department. Otherwise, I’ll be teaching vinyasa classes to my cat forever and her furry ass can’t even get downward dog down.
